Confessions of a Single Parent Pessimist: Win An Iconique Kaftan or Sun Dress For Summer

Confessions of a Single Parent Pessimist: Win An Iconique Kaftan or Sun Dress For Summer: I was sent a gorgeous Gottex Profile  Swan Lake swimdress to try out from  UK Swimwear  and they also have given me the chance to give on...

This Week's Top Watch

  • Peaky Blinders. **Spoiler alert for Series 4**. The episode "The Noose" was intense. Michael, John, Arthur and Polly literally seconds from being hung. Goodness me - traumatic. Then the Italians are moving in on the Shelby's resulting in a shooting, and one of the Blinders is no more - he is deceased. Noone is safe now they have been sent the black hand. Scary stuff. The acting is superb, the camera work is so atmospheric, and the modern music throughout just gives it such a modern edge. Brilliant.

  • Corrie. Phelan surely has to get his comeuppance soon. I know, I know - I've said this several times but seriously how many times is this man going to kill, hurt, injure, blackmail and just generally be unpleasant to before someone does for him? To the point where its actually getting a bit annoying now - firstly how stupidly ignorant Eileen is, and secondly how noone has worked it out yet. Come on - if this was panto, someone would be shouting "he's behind you"!

  • Orange is the New Black. We watched the first episode, not really having an idea of what it was about or what to expect. Now clearly, the main character is not your usual blonde American star of the series - she is going down for some serious time. She didn't immediately appear to be your villainess, but more that she got involved with the wrong woman. Cue now engaged to a man - none other that Jason Biggs of American Pie fame, its more a case of wrong place, wrong time, but nevertheless down she goes. Already, she's annoyed the inmate who runs the kitchen and had a rather unsavoury "treat" at the dinner table. Nice. Already a good watch, who knows where this is going to go but well worth a watch so far.

How do thin people get slim??

I find myself wondering how do thin people get slim? I ask this because as someone for whom slim is a dream, it is so bloody hard.

Some people don't, on the appearance face of it, seem to struggle at all. Some people in fact seem to be able to eat what they wish. I am not one of them. Sadly.

So I find myself watching those lucky enough to be slim, to be thin, and wondering what they eat, and just how they have come to be how they are.

Do they eat at all? If they do, what do they eat? How often do they eat it? Do they ever over indulge?

Me for instance. I diet, I go to the gym. But boy do I let my hair down. Especially on hols. All inclusive or otherwise, its all about relaxing, eating, drinking and having fun.

Sometimes on holiday, there are those women that look amazing. Not only on the first day. All holiday. Me - I get more bloated as the hol goes on. My clothes get tighter, my tum more pronounced. So how do they do it? Don't they indulge? Or do they work it off? It's my mission to find out how they do it. )

My best ways to deal with a cold :(

I have a cold. Not flu - I don't think its heading that way, but I am snuffly, red nosed, sneezy and sore swollen throat and gummy ears. Not pleasant to feel like this, and not looking particularly attractive either! All in all, its like not ill but ill - not bad enough to be considered serious, but serious enough to make you damned miserable.

So what is the best way to deal with this situation? Here is my round up of how I deal with it:

  • Antiseptic throat spray to numb it a little
  • Soup
  • Sweet tea
  • Binge TV watching
  • Films
  • Duvet
  • Thick socks
  • Hot shower / bath
  • Lots of body cream - so when you clammy, you smell yummy!
  • Brush my teeth a lot
  • Mouth wash a lot - gummy mouth - yuck
  • Lucozade
  • Ice cream
  • Heating on a nice temperature
  • Soft lighting
  • Paracetamol or ibuprofen as appropriate if you have temperature or aches
  • Layers - no thick clothes - just layers for heating up / cooling down as temperature fluctuates!

Single of the Week - Eminem ft Ed Sheeran - River

My single of the week is the brilliant 'River' from Eminem featuring Ed Sheeran.

Now imagine me turning on the radio and hearing a new Eminem track start, then imagine hearing Ed Sheeran featuring on it - two artists I truly admire and enjoy together on one absolutely superb track! Pure perfection.

'River' is actually taken from Eminem's ninth album 'Revival', but it was in fact written by Ed - well, the tune and the chorus anyway, the verses are Eminem's work. The result is just beyond satisfying. Both have a history of great collaborations, but this is just sublime.

That is not to say that this is a love song, goodness no it is not. This is a powerful, dark, brooding number, full of emotion. Ed's chorus lyrics kick in "I've been a liar, been a thief, been a lover, been a cheat". Eminem comes in with his verse "He's coming home with his neck scratched..... he's a sex addict, she just wants to exact revenge". Crikey.

The power these two can conjure up is phenomenal. I think this track is going to be the track of the year - granted it is only January, but this one is a keeper. Classic in the making.

If you have yet to hear this then what are you waiting for and turn the volume up! If you already love it, feel free to share that love. So there we have it - my first single of the week for 2018.

If you want to check out my previous singles of the week, and loads more music stuff then why don't you check out my Music page here. Happy listening :)

New Years Resolutions 2018 - Number 5 - Make and save more money!!

Yes, its that time of year when the finances need an overhaul. The mission this year is to make more money, which is possibly on most people's lists, but also to save more money - double impact!!

The plan is to change job, earn more income wise. Then look at renewals for insurances and cashback opportunities. Also using coupons and vouchers and loyalty schemes.

Bulk buy goods at the cheapest price. Sell unwanted stuff, use less petrol and spend less on food and drink. The impact there will not only be on the old bank balance, but will reduce outgoings as well as having the nice side effect of helping my diet!!

Excellent.

New Years Resolutions 2018 Number 4 - Be More Stylish

Looking back at some of my favourite pics of me, there really aren't that many I like, but of those that I do, its always holidays I tend to look my best on.

So my resolution for this year is to be stylish full stop. Not just on holiday!!

New Year's Resolutions 2018 - Number 3 - Be Beautiful

I have had my issues with confidence over the years. However, now I am over 40 I have just decided to stop worrying and be "beautiful" if to noone else but myself.

I have silly skin that still flares up, I have some wrinkles and some grey hair and I am definitely not beach ready at the moment, but so what?

I can have fun with what I have, I am not huge, I am not that bad looking wise, so my resolution this year is to treat myself kindly as if I am beautiful and to make the most of what I have and stop fretting about it.

New Year's Resolution Number 2 for 2018 - Lose weight

This year, I am taking a different approach to my resolutions. I always say "reach goal weight", then I lose some weight, I enjoy my new found confidence, then take great holidays and gain it again.

So, rather than set myself a "target" I am just going to set myself the goal to lose weight. However much I can, until I feel good.

So, resolution number 2 - lose weight :)

New Year's Resolution 2018 - Number 1 - Learn Spanish

Last year, 2017, I made a start at learning Spanish. This year I want to actually start to speak it properly - I know a few words now, but I need sentences, conversation - general stuff. So that when I'm off on my holidays, I know the lingo.

So that is my first resolution for 2018 - I want to be able to speak Spanish

Me on my hols #Selfie!! LBD!

A year or two back I wasn't usually into selfies, but I decided to have a go. Partly, it was about capturing the moment, but partly it was to capture the fact that I was a bit slimmer than usual!!

I was just about ready to go out for the evening here in my LBD:

When I go on my holiday, I like to glam up the accessories. You can see the bronze cuff on my wrist, and the matching necklace - Egyptian style. I'm still too big around the hips though. Next time, I will be slimmer, but I did enjoy myself this holiday!

What would you do if there was a Zombie outbreak?

Ok, so what if there was a zombie outbreak? What would you do? Not that its likely to happen, but imagine it did - imagine it was like one of the movies - say 28 days later or the like. Less aggressive - I don't want to be like Will Smith in I am Legend where they literally hunt you down - I mean the end of world where you can just do what you want sort of a situation. If you follow what I mean.

So what would you do? I think the first thing I would do, would be to gather lots of wood to burn in the event the power went off. And candles, lots of candles. At least then I would have light and heat.

The problem there would be that the house would be lit up and standing out as occupied. Hmm - so blackout blinds and shutters would be needed - noone would see the lights then. Good. Problem solved.

However, burning stuff might cause smoke and attract attention - I would need to confine the heat and control it and burn things that don't cause too much smoke - I'm thinking more like a BBQ than an inferno. That could work - except cooking on the BBQ carries the scent of food.

Hmm - so maybe BBQ under a canopy of some sort, or even indoors with a bit of ventilation. Possibly. I tell you one thing I would definitely be stocking up on though - booze. Yes in an end of the world situation, would it matter if I was tipsy most of the time? Seriously, like getting ill would be of any concern in such a scenario. Faced with becoming a zombie, I think I know what my choice would be!

I would drink what I wanted when I wanted, so it was less unbearable. So, food and heat sorted, raid cellars, fridges, garages etc. for fuel, booze and food, then there would be the issue of water. Luckily, we have water butts in our garden, but that would not be enough for drinking water and water to wash with. So what else? Bottled water might be plentiful at first, but I would need to find someway to siphon it from the local lakes and water towers. I think I could do that with hoses and such like, but from a discreet distance. Very lucky living near water!

Now for the fun stuff - zombie outbreak = no bills, no work, no council tax - hoorah!! So money would cease to be important. I would then make it an absolute priority to secure our home - chains, padlocks, shutters, anything - then check close friends and family were safe. Starting with those nearby - little recky missions, then venturing further until everyone was accounted for.

In time, we would have to start stocking up to survive - tinned foods, long life milk, bottled water, wine, chocolate, wine, medicines, wine. ... Just joking - no really! First aid stuff - bandages, aspirin, plasters - grab what we could. Then dine out on ice cream until the power fails, then consider where to go for supplies.

In the Walking Dead, the dead attack. I'm hoping if it ever happens in blighty that the zombies might eventually die, well, technically zombies are already dead - so maybe decompose? And quickly.

I hope that if it ever happens, that firstly, we will be immune. That dogs won't be able to catch it so our little furry one doesn't end up like Samantha on afore mentioned Will Smith. Also that noone in my family gets it - like in Maggie - unbearable to watch someone turning into one. I also hope it just turns people into zombies, not crazy murderers like in The Crazies.

I want the end of the world to be more enjoyable - like suddenly having privacy, freedom and no more worries about money, holidays or bikini bodies. Who knows, in the right circumstances, you might be able to eat what you want, wear what you want and literally noone will care.

Hopefully it will never happen, but just in case... its always good to be prepared.

Top to Toe Summer Body Plan

It is winter. The nights are long, the days are short, Blue Monday has been and gone, but the summer is still a long way off. Spring has yet to sprung, temperatures are cold out, the heating is on inside on high. A short cool shower is out of the question, as hot baths are paramount to thaw out.

It may be the time of New Year Resolutions, but by this point, often they have been cast aside and forgotten. With that in mind, it may not be the most obvious time to plan a summer body plan, but its always worth remembering that summer bodies are made in winter.

My life in black and white

I love taking photos - I literally photograph everything, capture the moment and all that. Its not uncommon for me to take photos on every walk we go on, every task we accomplish, pics of family, friends, dogs, places, things, sunset, snow - I just love to have a lovely record of everything we do.

Most recently, I have really got into adding filters. This is a new phenomenon for me, as I've never really used them before. In particular, taking black and white pictures is my new love. You have got to love the technology we now have at our fingers.

Here are a few of my favourite pics of my life in black and white:

My Book of the Month - Dead Lake by Darcy Coates

I have never read anything by Darcy Coates before, so when I chose Dead Lake, it was a bit of an unknown entity. Billed as a supernatural thriller,  I can honestly say I was not disappointed.

When Sam heads to her uncle's remote cabin by the lake, her intention being to paint some new material for her forthcoming show, she gets more inspiration than she could ever have imagined.

Isolated, exhausted and tired, Sam tries to find motivation to paint, but somehow the images she produces don't quite seem to be her own....

This is a spooky tale 100%. I was reading this on a windy dark night, and I made sure more than once to check the doors were locked. It was that tense, and that is a rare find!

Sam sets out to find out just what is happening, having been completely spooked when she sees a man on the dock. She wasn't expecting anyone to be around. What makes matters worse is when she hears on the radio of all the missing persons cases in the vicinity.

With no phone signal, when she then finds her car has also been tampered with, Sam decides to call for help - the nearby ranger station. Cue a desperate race between Sam and her pursuer, as she uncovers grisly discoveries and finally unravels the mystery.

This is quite a short read, but the pace is breathtaking and it doesn't let up on the tension and suspense. A good read, and I shall definitely be heading for more of Darcy's output in the near future.

I would rate this a good 7 out of 10. The tension and suspense were great, but I would have liked a little bit more background on the main character Sam, as it was hard to attach with her. I also would have liked to know more about the perpetrator. Granted that would have made it a longer read, but a little more would have just filled it out that bit more. Great short read, recommended.

My Rainbow of Motivation - my new tool to help me reach goal weight this time

Red - R is for Realistic

Losing weight, getting fit, eating healthily - all very good, but weight loss goals need to be realistic. I am not going to lose a stone every week. 1-2 pounds is healthy and brilliant. No point expecting unrealistic weight loss, and then being disappointed.

Orange - O is for Organised

Many an attempt has failed due to not being organised. Planning to diet, but not making sure to have the ingredients in the house. Planning to cook something, and not having the cooking dish I needed, or the measuring jug, or the right size bowl. Being organised can be the difference between success and failure.

Yellow - Y is for You

Battling to get the weight off, sometimes its easy to forget why I am doing it. I am doing it for me, first and foremost. Not for someone else, or something else, although those things help keep me motivated, but ultimately, its my body so I am doing it for me.

Green - G is for Goals

It can seem so daunting at the start, at that first weigh in or even before that. When its a couple of stone you are facing down, its easy to panic and think its too much, will take too long etc.. Having an overall goal is great, but unless you only have a small amount to lose, its much better to break your main aim down into little mini goals. First goal could be half a stone, or perhaps to be under the stone mark for a certain occasion, and drop to the next number. By making little goals, and recognising your success in reaching each small goal, it will help get to the big goal in time.

Blue - B is for Body

Now this one really is my nemesis. I focus so much on the number on the scales, that I forget to look at my body and how its changing. So this time, I have taken before photo's at the start - front, back and sides, awful as they look, and I have taken measurements top to bottom. Now, when I inevitably have that week or weeks, when I have exercised, dieted, been so good, and lost no weight or even gained, I have another way of measuring my success - my actual body!

Indigo - I is for Incentive

Sometimes, despite all my will power and effort, I need a little more motivation to keep on track. So I set myself those small goals, and then I give myself an incentive or reward when I get there. It might be a pandora charm for each half stone lost, or a new pair of jeans for getting to a certain weight, or a trip to the beauty salon. However, this is one for caution - I have used food or drink as an incentive previously, and I am not alone in that. At my last slimming group I went to in person, I would often hear people celebrating losing that week, then saying they were off home for fish and chips as a "reward". Is that really a reward for all that effort that went into losing those pounds? I don't think so - my incentives are all about treating my body and mind not  my tum. The last thing I want is more weight - that's no incentive at all.

Violet - V is for Victory

Losing weight is hard, no denying it. It takes focus and it takes time, and it takes effort and commitment, and its not permanent. Losing weight is only one part, keeping it off is another story. I considered this and realised that for every time I battle my demons and win, its a victory. I have won that battle, if not the war. Its one battle at a time that leads to absolute victory. So each time I resist that glass of wine, or that biscuit, or that extra yorkshire pudding, or that cake - whatever it is, its a victory and should be recognised. Every time I go to the gym or get my ass on that treadmill at home, when every part of me is coming up with reasons and excuses not to bother, its a victory. I want to enjoy that feeling of winning each time, and acknowledge each battle I win. I will get there, and I will be victorious.

I have come up with this rainbow myself. I am constantly hopping on and off the diet and fitness wagon, so I decided to find my own self help mantra to motivate me and help me reach goal. I hope it inspires you. Let me know if you found it useful :)

Staying in is the new going out :)

At the weekend, in my younger days that would mean going out in my lunch break to buy a new top / dress/ trousers / shoes etc.. ready for my night out.

As I got into my late 20's, it would be more about the accessories - the jewellery, the bags, the make up, that red lipstick. As I approached 30, it felt like I was going to every do, every night out, and I partied partied, partayed let me tell you!!

I turned 30, and I still went on work do's, I still went out with the girls. Then as I got into my mid 30's I got a bit bored of it. I was well into my relationship with my now fiance, but it wasn't even about that.

The whole thing just got, well, boring. I got sick of spending money on clothes, spending money on taxi's, spending money on expensive clubs and expensive drinks and waking up with the mother of all hangovers every weekend. The inevitable late night take aways, and the junk food cravings the day after.

The other half was still wanting to go and watch local bands, go to the town for a night out, and he's older than me!! I just wanted to go somewhere with a good atmosphere, somewhere to sit, and the volume at a level where conversation was still possible.

Fast forward to my 40's. Now, me and the other half are agree that staying in is the new going out. We actively look forward to our nights in. The weather can be hot or cold, the nights light or dark, and whilst we still enjoy a night out, its to go for a meal somewhere lovely or a drink in a nice place.

We like to be comfortable us two, and for us, a night in together watching box sets and having a drink without the worry of taxi's and queuing to us is fabulous.

Gonna get me a 'Sweat Stash'!!!

Had this great inspiration today. A 'sweat stash'!.

What is that you might be asking yourself? A sweat stash is this - each time you stick to your diet for a whole day - whack a coin in the jar. Each pound you lose - whack a coin in the jar. Each time you go to the gym - bosh - another coin in the jar. The harder you work, the bigger the reward you pop in the box.

Now, depending on the budget available to you, it could be 10p, it could be a £1 each time. It doesn't matter. The point is to watch those coins mount up!!

What a great visual way to keep you motivated!! Definitely going to give this a go! See how much I reach whilst I am on my mission!

My Top 10 Stephen King books

Blue skies and a good book - it doesn't get any better!

I have loved reading Stephen King's work since High School, and as long as he produces books, I shall continue to devour each output with greed. But as with all things, there are some that I consider better than others. So here is my Top 10 Stephen King books.

    • Salem's Lot
    • Needful Things
    • The Dark Half
    • Gerald's Game
    • IT
    • Misery
    • The Shining
    • Insomnia
    • Under the Dome
    • Bag of Bones
The problem with coming up with a top 10 list is that I always struggle when there is so much choice! On another day, my list might have included different choices. So for argument's sake, here are the ones I considered for my Top 10, which are still amazing, and well worth a read and then some - King by name, King by definition in my humble.

    • Doctor Sleep
    • The Regulators
    • Rose Madder
    • Dreamcatcher
    • Mr Mercedes
    • The Stand
    • Cell
    • Christine
    • Pet Sematary
    • Lisey's Story

My 34 Reasons to lose weight ( so far)

    Number 1
    #Reason No 1 - I want to look good in a bikini!!

This is my intention to think of a reason every day to stick to my diet.

If I can keep that thought in mind for each whole day, I hope it will be enough to keep me motivated and inspired.

    Number 2
    #Reason No 2 - I want to be a Size 10/12

My intention to think of a reason every day to stick to my diet.

If I can keep this thought in mind for each whole day, I hope it will be enough to keep me motivated and inspired.

Reason Number 2 is that I have reached a Size 12 once or twice, but never maintained it, and I need to be a bit smaller still. So size 10/12 is the goal.

    Number 3
Reason number 3 to stick to my diet: To fit into all those lovely clothes in my wardrobe!!

I have many items in my wardrobe that I can't currently wear. Some are mere pounds away from fitting, some I can barely get up to my knees!! Some do fit, but look awful because they fit in all the wrong places!!

It would be lovely to open my wardrobe and just be able to select an item, knowing it will fit me. It would make packing for holiday a pleasure, not a challenge!!

    Number 4
My reason number 4 for sticking to my diet is to look good at work. I am fed up of wearing the same old clothes every day. I want to be able to wear what I want to wear, not just black and grey.

I want to be more stylish, more groomed, more put together. So my fourth reason is to look good at work.

    Number 5
Number 5 on my list of reasons to stick to my diet is to have more confidence. When I gain weight, I feel self conscious, and horrible, and grumpy.

When I lose some weight, I have more confidence, I feel happier and better. So that's reason number 5!

    Number 6:
I want to be noticed for the right reasons!! I am fed up of walking into bars, restaurants, offices and feeling eyes on me - for all the wrong reasons! I want to be the person that gets looks in a good way. So that is my reason number 6!!

    Number 7:
Ok so number 7 is a bit different. This reason is a bit of a phobia I seem to have developed. I have a real issue with facing the mirrors at the gym. When I am working certain exercises, I am supposed to check my technique in the mirror. Not me, no way, never!! I will face the other way, or if I have no choice, I will look anywhere but at that damn mirror!!

So reason number 7 for sticking to my diet is to reach a weight where I am comfortable seeing myself in the mirror when I work out.

    Number 8 :
When I am overweight in the summer when its warm, it makes me feel even more hot and uncomfortable. I lose weight to go on holiday abroad, and it feels so good being able to wear bikini's, shorts and skirts.

Unfortunately, when I get home to the UK, I gain weight and then when it gets warm here, I am not able to wear my summer clothes. This is ridiculous. So I am changing the pattern this year and I am going to be slim for the summer here for once!!!

I want to be cool, and look cool, not hot and uncomfortable!!!

    Number 9:
Today, I want to get under the stone mark. I am sick of almost reaching goal, then never quite getting under that stone mark!!!!

    Number 10:
As a woman, and just turned 40, the area around my middle is a problem. Always has been if I'm brutally honest, but now it bugs me more than ever!!

So, my reason to continue with this intense plan is that - I want that middle trimmed down and not bulging over the top of my waistbands!!
Its also a reason to do a lot of abs. :)

    Number 11:
I have never been one of those women that throws on a pair of shorts in summer. At a push, I will don a pair on holiday where noone I know is likely to see me but I don't have the pins for shorty shorts.

I would love to have toned pins so that I can - so that's today's motivation :)

    Number 12:
Today's reason to stick to my diet and exercise plan is that I want to see my cheekbones again. I am very lucky to possess good bone structure - I have been told many times.

Many times that is, when you can actually see them, unlike now!! My face is the first place weight seems to go from when I lose it. Unfortunately, its also the first place that it goes back on, which is what I am rocking or sadly not, at the moment.

So, today's reason is to rediscover them bones them bones them dry bones. Cheekbones that it is :)

    Number 13:
Today's reason to stick to the diet - lying on the sofa won't make me bikini ready!! And yet I am having one of those days when that is all I want to do.

I just want to put my head in those cushions, lay back, still a film on and be done with it. But I can't. Well, I could, but then there would be no point when I am looking back on holiday in beating myself up and feeling fat. If I choose that option, I deserve to look crap on the beach.

So, today's reason is that lying on the sofa will not make me bikini ready. So that has to be a start to get me up and active today and stay away from the chocolates!! :)

    Number 14:
Today's reason to stick to the diet - I want to look good in lingerie.

Yes, its that female enjoyment of wearing beautiful underwear. The problem at the moment, is that my underwear is tending to be functional rather than beautiful. This must change.

I want to wear gorgeous lacy things, delicate items - not boulder holders!! So that is today's reason to stick to the diet. :)

    Number 15:
Today's reason to stick to the diet - I am not getting any younger!!

Right - its that old saying that as you get older, you generally thicken out, and gain a few pounds. Now, if this is the case, having just turned 40 myself, it sure is not going to get any easier battling against my body.

If age does slow the metabolism, all the more reason to lose the weight now, before biology starts to tick against me!!

So that is today's reason to motivate me, and as reasons go, this one seems to be pretty powerful!! :)

    Number 16:
Today's reason for sticking to my diet - I want toned arms.

Yep, I want rid of the bingo wings and the armpit fat. I'm not really that big - probably somewhere between a size 12 and a size 14 at the present time - a size 13 if you will, if there was such a thing!!

However, I want my arms to be defined, to be toned, to get rid of these annoying flabby bits so that I look nice in dresses and am not worried about the hammy area at the top of my arms.

Diet alone won't shift this so I need to up the ante on the weight front.

    Number 17:
Today's reason to stick to the diet - I want to have some wine!!

Yes, when I reach goal weight, or holiday, whichever comes first, I can finally have some wine!! But only, and I repeat, only, if I get under that stone mark!!

So that is today's reason. Bribery. Works a treat with me :)

    Number 18:
Today's reason to stick to the diet is that I want rid of the muffin top!!

I am losing weight, I am sticking to the exercise and yet still, that unsightly bulge over my waistband when I sit down remains. I don't know how slim I will need to get to in order to get rid of this damned bit of flab, but I am determined.

So that is today's reason. No more muffins - either the food variety or the overhang!! :)

    Number 19:
Yep, today's reason is simple. It is not at all long now until my holiday. I am just weeks away now, and I have to make each day count!!

Tonight, I could easily have given in. The last thing in the world I wanted for my tea tonight was the 3 day diet measly portions. But I have done it. Why? Because I want to be the best I can be when I get on that plane.

Ok, so miracles don't happen, but I can at least be unbloated and more streamlined that if I pig out at this point!!

    Number 20:
Today's reason to stick to my diet is that the scales have not dropped on weigh in this morning. I was really fed up. I have been so good, exercised so much, every single day.

The result? Stayed the bloody same!! So, today's reason to stick to it is exactly that - I haven't lost any weight, so I have to keep going until I do!!

    Number 21:
Today's reason to stick to the diet - I want to go to posh restaurants!!

What I mean is, that I want to get dressed up in glamorous clothes looking amazing and go out to posh restaurants. I do go out, to lovely places, but I always feel frumpy.

I end up overeating- starters, mains and puddings, washed down with wine. Calorific? Hell yes. Taste good? Damn right!!

The problem is the getting ready and how I feel about me. I want to look nice, to feel confident. I do not want to look like the person who orders everything on the menu!!

So that is today's reason, so that one day, I will look like the person I want to be :)

    Number 22:
Today's reason for sticking to my diet is because I am fed up of being fed up about my weight and my body. I go on a diet, lose a bit, go on holiday or to the wedding - whatever the event that prompted the weight loss.

I pile it on again, and it all starts all over again. I never maintain - I only ever lose or gain. The more fed up I get, the harder I try, but then when I get to the end of the path, I go overboard everytime. I put it on and I feel fed up. I eat what I want, but then I feel fed up when I am fat.

So, that's today's reason - I do not want to be fed up about this anymore. It is just ridiculous and it has to stop.

    Number 23:
Today's Reason to stick to my Diet - I want toned inner thighs My legs are toning up a bit, slowly. I am developing some good definition, but clearly, my inner thighs are not being worked in quite the same manner, as they are refusing to change.

My inner thighs are flabby and unsightly, and nothing - not squats, not Zumba, not running, seems to be making a difference. Losing weight will help of course. It won't tone them up, but it will remove some of the fat.

However, in order to accomplish this goal, I need to stick to my diet, every day, and stick to the exercise plan but also add some specialist moves to tone these bad boys up!!

So that is today's reason - if I do not stick to it, I shall have flabby inner thighs forever!! Not having that!! :)

    Number 24:
Today's reason to stick to my diet is that I want to be proud of my body. I am 40 years old, and not once have I felt totally proud of how I look.

Don't get me wrong - sometimes I look ok and I scrub up well, but put me in a bikini or a pair of shorts and panic sets in. I resign myself to how I look thinking "when I reach goal weight" and then it never happens.

Not this time!!! This time, I am going to exercise, I am going to diet, I am going to reach goal and why? Because I want to be proud of my body.

    Number 25:
Today's reason for sticking to the diet is that I want to be in control and not my body. My mind needs to rule, not my hunger or cravings.

This is the problem - I get the strongest desire to eat crap and drink wine. Or a lovely cold beer and a burger, or crisps, or cheese or cake. Its never good stuff. I give in and then I enjoy it for a few minutes, and then within minutes, I am feeling fat and horrible, and the impact lasts for days.

I am tired of being ruled by cravings for fatty foods and I want to be in control. The longer I stick to the plan, the more I form new habits to replace the unhealthy ones and the better I feel mentally because then I am in the driving seat and in control.

    Number 26:
Today's reason to stick to my diet is how wonderful it feels to lose weight. When you get on the scales, and it has dropped, its a good feeling.

When the pounds start to add up and become half stones it feels great. When you start to drop whole stones and look and feel better, its the best feeling ever.

I need to keep that in mind, as the reverse is also true. When you get on those scales and its gone up, it feels awful.

So, I need to remember how bad it feels when the scales go up and how wonderful it feels when my weight is coming down.

    Number 27:
Today's reason to stick to the plan is simple - I will never get my ass in shape by sitting on it!!

What I am saying is that there is no point sitting around, bemoaning the fact that I am not at goal weight whilst spending my time sitting on my backside. If I want a banging body and to reach goal weight, I have to get up and move and work at it.

    Number 28:
Today's reason to stick to my diet - I want to be free to have a pint!!

Today was a lovely sunny day, and it killed me not being able to just go to the pub, sit in the beer garden and have a cold pint of lager. I used to do it a lot, but then I realised I was overweight and wanted to not be, so I stopped doing it to lose the weight.

The problem is that I spend most of damn summer trying to lose weight and I never get to have that pint!! So I want to stick to my diet, get to goal weight, and stay there.

Then I can have my pint in the sun!!

    Number 29:
Today's Reason to Diet is that I want to enjoy the sunshine not dread it.

It breaks down like this - the sun comes out, I panic. I have a desperate hunt through my wardrobe to find something I can be cool enough it whilst not looking like a hippo.

It gets on my nerves. I should be like "yay, sunshine, damn girl". Nope. It fills me full of fear.

    So that is today's reason.

    Number 30:
Today's Reason to Diet is that I want to look good wet.

Yep, no matter how much I can hold it in, patch it up and camouflage when it comes to getting in the water, all bets are off. I want to be able to get in that pool, dive in those waves, and come out looking good instead of coming out looking like I have narrowly avoided the harpoon!!

I want to be as glamourous soaking wet as when I am fully loaded with the war paint and spanx!!

    That is today's reason :)

    Number 31:
Today's Reason to Diet is that I want to show off my belly piercing!! Yes, I finally got it done, so now I need the body to be able to show it off!!

    That is today's reason :)

    Number 32:
Today's reason to stick to the diet is that I want to be a good role model. My step daughter loves her food, but I want to be able to encourage her to be healthy and to exercise.

I feel a bit of a hypocrite if I am overweight and not in shape, so that is today's reason :)

    Number 33:
Yes, I recently discovered that because I am with a life insurance company who value good health, if I get to target weight and maintain it, I will get a cheaper insurance.

Not only that, but you also get perks like free cinema tickets and discounts on healthy stuff. Fab. What more reason do I need!!

    Number 34:
My reason to stick to my diet number 34 is because of my wedding. Scheduled, but not yet booked for 2018, I need to get to goal weight before I can even begin to think about my dress.

I have no idea what style I want as I have no idea if what is in my head will look right on my body, until said body is at the right weight. I don't know if my goal weight is going to be the right weight until I get there, and as I never quite manage it, its making it difficult to crack on with my wedding plans.

Now that is a big incentive and should be all the motivation I need this time!
