MMM Exotic Body Scrub treat for me - bliss

I have just been for a spa treatment at my local health spa. All I can say is wow. I feel amazing.

I opted for the Elemis Exotic Body Scrub. Its a body exfoliation ritual with body brushing, warm oil and a sublime salt glow application to leave the body replenished and flawless.

You get to choose from two exotic scrubs, either the invigorating Lime and Ginger, or the indulgent Frangipani Monoi. I went for the Frangipani Monoi.

Its just so lovely. You lie there whilst you have your arms, legs and backs body brushed first of all. They put a sheet over you so its all very discreet, plus you get a really sexy pair of paper pants - like those you get when you go for a spray tan!

After the body brushing, you get a foot cleanse which is just so relaxing. Then she smooths on some sort of oil and then the scrub goes on. It feels really rough and your skin tingles as she exfoliates you.

Then its into the shower - a lovely hot powerful shower. Dry off and back on the bed, which she has been in and redressed whilst I was in the shower. My pants back on and its back on the bed to be moisturised.

The scrub and treatment smell wonderful and my skin now feels amazing and smooth and supple. I feel totally relaxed and chilled.

Perfect way to wind down after a busy day. Feeling very calm now. :)

I'm in Slytherin!! Who knew!?!

Having just watched the top 50 Harry Potter moments, despite being 40 I decided to pop onto the site JKR mentioned - Pottermore, to see what house the sorting hat would place me in.

You have to register - it's straight forward enough, so no problem there. You have to let your wand pick you, and buy a pet ( I opted for a Siamese cat), then it off to the hall for the Sorting Hat to work its thing.

It asks you a few questions - you have to answer honestly. I was thinking I would likely be Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, maybe even Gryffindor, but alas I was Slytherin!!! Yes, house of he that shall not be named, and Draco!! Damn it!!

That said, who ever remembers the good guys? Much as we root for them, the baddies have more fun!! So I am a Slytherin. Maybe I am destined for greatness after all??

Get yourself on there if you want a bit of fun and see what house you are. Drop me a comment if you do and let me know!! Here's the link http://www.pottermore.com

Have fun - who doesn't enjoy a bit of magic?

Single of the Week - Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out

My new single of the week is the brilliant 'Stressed Out' by Twenty One Pilots.

This is such a catchy song when you get into it. When it first starts though, you wonder what it is then it kicks in and you start to recognise it. Even now, I don't immediately recognise it when it starts, and that's after getting to know it quite well. Its a sneaky one this - sort of creeps up on you , and you go "oh, its that song".

Back to the band - Twenty One Pilots are an American band. This single is from their fourth album, which was released in 2015 and was called "Blurryface" which is referenced in the lyrics. Personally, I had never heard of them until this song.

Judging by the lyrics, this is a song about growing up / getting old. The lines "Wish we could turn back time, to the good ol' days, when our momma sang us to sleep but now we're stressed out" suggest that its a bit of a melancholy look back at childhood from the eyes of an adult. Its actually quite poignant.

The band are a duo, and their style is a bit indie, a bit hip hop, a bit electro pop - some kind of rapping in places makes this quite an edgy track. Its the sort of electro backing sounds that make this stand out, as well as the catchy hook. Its an unusual song, but it grows on you. They are a hard band to pigeon hole, as they seem to have a bit of a nod to most music genre's based on this track.

Doing a bit of research into this band, its interesting where they got their name from. Apparently its from the Arthur Miller play All My Sons. Its a play about a man who causes the death of 21 pilots - which I would imagine would be more than stressed out!!

So there we have it - a bit of a different song this - hard to nail down by way of description, so best just to take a listen to it yourselves. Let me know what you think.

    What I'm Watching This Week

    • Grand Designs - UK & NZ. I can now add the NZ version to my watching material of the home improvement variety!! This week, they are making a house from tyres, cob and bottle bricks!! Well I never! Great stuff - I absolutely love it.

    • Emmerdale. My absolute favourite soap at the moment. Missing / stolen engagement rings, lots of fisticuffs, and an evil dad locked up - fab stuff. Truly entertaining, for me, its leaving the other soaps in its wake.

    • Game of Thrones. Sadly I am now up to date and eagerly awaiting the next series!! The first 5 have been amazing, but there is a question I would love to know the answer to - and that is this. Is Jon Snow dead? The suspense is killing me!!

One week to go until hols :)

Getting excited now!! A week today and I will be flying away on my holidays!! Yay!!

Now then, serious issues to be dealt with before then. I am talking preparations. Here is the very busy schedule for the next week, and boy will I need the break when it arrives!! Phewf!

    Things to do in April

So its already April, but if you are struggling for ideas of what to do this month, then check out my top picks below:

    • Get outdoors - enjoy the lighter nights and go for a walk
    • Pop your wellies on and get out into the wild - walk in the woods
    • Plant out some spring flowers in tubs or borders
    • Buy some flowers - daffodils or tulips are a great choice for spring
    • Get your garden weeded
    • Sow some hardy annual seeds in your garden
    • Feed your shrubs
    • Spring clean your house - top to bottom
    • De-clutter your wardrobe
    • Plant some sunflower seeds
    • Bake some bread
    • Ditch those tights!
    • Get your solar lights out - there is enough light for them now
    • Paint your fencing
    • Dust off that patio furniture
    • Have your first BBQ of the year
    • Spring clean your finances - see if you can save some pennies
    • Turn down that thermostat
    • Open some windows - let some fresh air in your home
    • Pumice those feet and pop on some nail varnish - get them tootsies sandal ready
Spring is all about cleaning out and new beginnings. Enjoy it - summer is on its way!! :)

T-Bag - best villain, like, ever!!!

We are watching Prison Break on boxset, for the second time. Now up to season 4 again, and its as fab second time around as the first let me tell you.

T-Bag, real name Theordore Bagwell, is vile, cruel, murderous and criminal. He is also brilliant viewing! The quotes he comes out with are sublime and take the program to another level. His use of language and the way he intonates - pure brilliance.

"Remember Pretty, I am serving life plus one. So if I get busted for attempted escape, I'ma throw in a homicide, no problem, that's like a parking ticket to me".

"Either I'm through that hole with you, or I'm gonna sing like Johnny Cash"

"Bradley, I couldn't expect a grown man who still lives with his mamma to understand the machinations of love".

T-Bag has lost his hand, escaped twice from prison, been generally rotten, yet he is still fabulous. Whoever cast him, Robert Knepper, struck gold here. This part was made for him.

(Definitions from Your Dictionary and Merriam Webster) word

    Cajun Chicken Salad - yum!!

I had the best of intentions this weekend. I intended to be good. I wasn't very though. Oops!

We went to the lovely Aston Marina, followed by our lovely local and I had 2 glasses of Pinot. It was divine.

Then we went out for tea at another lovely pub. Cajun chicken salad for me. 2 more glasses of wine. Oh dear!!

    It was lovely though:

Back on the health kick from tomorrow but boy it was worth it. (It also came with chunky chips - you can just see them by the glass of wine! )

Gran Canaria 2015 - it began at the airport :)

It was an early morning pick-up for an 8.30am flight, which is never the best of looks!! However, being at the airport, no matter how early requires 2 things. The first is a stodgy meal of some sort, and the second is a lovely drink!!

Birthday Celebrations - Family meal number 1

7 course meal it was, at a very lovely restaurant not too far from us. 7 courses!! Well, be rude not to wouldn't it? It was my birthday :)

First up, it was a sharing platter:

Next, it was speciality breads with balsamic vinegar and different dips:

Time for soup. I opted for sweet potato and carrot. It was gorgeous:

Me and the other half mid meal :)

Cheeky drink or two? Rude not to :)

Next up, it was a feta, chicken and veg roll on a bed of wild rocket and veg:

Then it was time for wild mushroom risotto. This was my favourite. It came with vegetable crips:

Time for dessert. I went for half and half - baileys milkshake, and a slice of cheesecake:

Finally, it was the cheese board:

Then, we all rolled home. Literally after all that!! So lovely, but I really couldn't do this often. Couldn't move!! Happy Birthday to me :)

    What I'm Watching This Week

    • Game of Thrones. Now on series 4. The corruption, the murder, the betrayals, the sex - phewf!! This is relentless. My favourite continues to be half man, even though ( plot spoiler alert!!) he has murdered his lover and his father!! He's still a great character. Dragons, zombies - this program truly is a feast for the eyes and the mind. Fantastic stuff.

    • Emmerdale. The trial - I am just hoping the result goes the right way. Gordon is vile. Loving Emmerdale more than any of the soaps at the moment. Eastenders is just depressing. Emmerdale at least has humour. The whole way they are handling David's cancer scare, the sad storyline around Ashley's dementia - this soap has such empathy.

    • Carrie - the remake. This is proper scary. The original was pretty intense, but the special effects in this, and the great casting - Julianne Moore - proper loony tunes. Brought up to date with smartphones and cyber bullying, this does respect the original, but makes it fresh. Brill - just be warned - scary!!!
